Stern TV: RTL uses Facebook Live to extend linear episode
German TV magazine “Stern TV” recently proved how easily TV shows can be extended online. On June 8th they spontaneously decided to live stream the ending of an episode on Facebook Live.

The show’s guest that night was Philip Häusser, a physics student who runs the YouTube channel “Phil’s Physics” and published a book of the same name. During the show, he performed a series of science experiments, one of which took longer than planned. Because the following nightly news broadcast could not be delayed, host Steffen Hallaschka sent viewers to the show’s official Facebook page, where viewers could watch the grand final of the experiment (which was a rather impressive explosion). …
